JUST GIVE UP ON ME

Lately I've received some great blog awards from some fantastic people. I appreciate these awards, I swear I do. Swear it. I'm SO grateful for your kindness, and that you like me enough to give me an award. Swear.

However, I SUCK at actually following through with what's required as a recipient. Things like: share 603 things about yourself that no one else in the world knows, pass this along to 171 people and link back to all of their blogs, scale Mt. Everest then create a vlog of you at the top and add 43 new users to your YouTube channel with this award edited as a logo in the corner of your video.

These are superb projects, but I JUST DON'T HAVE THE TIME.
Or maybe I'm just lazy. Or maybe I worry no one will really care to read my 603 facts and I'm pretty sure I would die of frost bite before making it to the top of the big E.

So, leave me.
Save yourself.
Just give up on me.
Forget trying to give me a blog award.
I am not worthy.

My apologies go out to the following recent award givers:
Jon Paul- For my Journey Support award.
Sydnee-For my Quiller award.
Ezmirelda-For my Versatile Blogger award.
Bec-For my other Versatile Blogger award.
Melissa- For my Fantasy/Sci-Fi award.

I failed you, and I am sorry.

To the rest of you: If you're not already, follow all the people listed above. They're spectacular. They are worthy.

I'm sure I'm forgetting someone, so if you gave me an award and I haven't followed the rules and blogged about it, but you aren't on this apology list, please let me know. I will add you to the list and make sure you get the "Top of Everest or Bust" award sent to you ASAP.

  2. teehee... yeah, blog awards can be a little much sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I love the ones I've won, but as thoughtful as they are, I rarely pass them on either, they take so much work!!

  3. Haha, congrats on being loved. I'll strike you off my list of people to pass the Versatile Blogger award to. ;) I'm not a huge fan of all the requirements either, but it's nice to know people actually like your blog.

    Have a lovely weekend!!

  4. Oh don't say that. I've read several blogs where the authors said the same thing. No one can keep up with everything! In fact, I think that the chances of going completely insane go up if you do! Just enjoy this great world of blogging and remind yourself that your blog rocks and people love it! :D

  5. I know what you mean. I have three recent awards I haven't posted and so many in the past that I can't even remember who gave them to me. I'm bad as well.

  6. I am ALWAYS behind on awards!! And they come in swarms too. For weeks there will be nothing and then BAM! Fifteen! le sigh.

  7. I'm right there with you, Karen. I've been in an award drought lately and not complaining one bit ;-)

  8. Ha! I hear you about requirements and time suck. But unworthy you are not. I've also been trying to figure out what to do with all the awards because they take up so much sidebar. I'd like to shrink them down, if possible, into a montage, but I don't even want to spare the time right now to do that.

  9. I think the problem with awards is that they grow exponentially. One award turns to 5, turns to 25 ....They very quickly get out of hand.

  10. Though I appreciate it when people think of me, I've had to let the awards projects go as well. Looks like you're in good company.

  11. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like this;) I have a ton that I haven't passed on, but there's only so many hours in the day.

  12. Oh Karen...well I passed an award on to you but...NO WORRIES!

I know what you mean about them taking so much time. I just got another award today and tagged in a penmanship game....And I'm so unbelievably flattered that theres anyone who cares enough to read my blog, that I want to do them all. But they take time. And with finals/final projects this week....I just don't have the time to do them. I actually feel pretty awful about it.

But we are all busy and mostly, to me, the awards shouldn't really be about doing all the requirements...it's the sentiment behind it.

Blog awards are like the golden star sticker you get in preschool for a job well done, when the teacher thinks your going above and beyond. So think of it that way. I'm gave you a gold star and this gold star has no rules attached to it. Just my recognition of your awesomeness.

  13. See, Melissa, I'm so sorry. You're on there now! :)

  14. You don't suck you just aren't so good at figuring out everything attached to awards and remembering that you received them. It's not a big deal, I'm sure no one is going to hold it against you.

  15. Oh, don't worry, I forgive you. But if you do ever scale Mount Everest... I want that vlog.

  16. I have never really understood the whole blog award thing. Luckily I too am not worthy so I don't have to worry about it. ;)

  17. You're so not unworthy. It's okay about not going with the requirements-many people don't. I was a bit perplexed myself about them. But your blog is awesome anyways-blog awards or not wouldn't change that fact. :)

  18. Ha! Karen, I am the exact same way (but of course you said it much better than I could have :)

  19. Well said, Karen! It is a difficult line to tread. It's great to know that people are enjoying your blog/writing, but it is a lot of work to follow the rules...I rarely follow the rules on posts. I do think it's fun to read the 603 things about the blog author, but it does get overwhelming. I think it's perfectly fine to do what you did today.

    Have a great productive week!

  20. Aw, darling I'm in the same boat. But I don't think anyone could be upset with you for not following all those instructions and doing all those things, though! I think blog awards are meant to show YOU that you are appreciated. Although, I personally would love to read 603 new facts about you. You're one of the most interesting people I know, and I'm certain if there were a reality tv show with writers, you would be perfect for it. Congrats on all your awards. You deserve every one of them, luv.

  21. I decided long ago to keep any blog awards that I was blessed with on a special shelf in my heart, but not on my blog. I get them and cherish them but don't post them. It's not from lack of appreciation, its just from my own sucky-disorganized-mess-of-a-life brain.

so, I totally get this post.

  22. I know what you mean. I feel the same way sometimes.

  23. I am the same way. I am always so honored and happy to receive awards, but am terrible at passing them on. I do think I need to write a post like this one!

  24. hmmm, maybe it's just me but I didn't think an award should come with requirements :-\

  25. I'm really bad at handing out the awards too. - G

  26. We will never give up! Never surrender. Dude, you just don't have time. I get it. I never do anything with my awards either. In fact, they're not even on my sidebar anymore, so you're way better than me. :)

  27. Omigosh, too funny! Can I just copy this post onto my blog because I'm the same way!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yup. I can relate. The awards are SO sweet, but I really don't do them justice :-( Just found your blog. Happy to be a new follower.

  29. Hey, I didn't even CLAIM an award you gave me, so if you're unworthy, then me? I'm unworthy cubed.

Just sent you an e-mail ... could have sworn I'd already done so. Ignore me if I wound up three weeks too late ...

  30. Karen, you crack me up, girl! We could never give up on you. Awards are fun but they are very time consuming. Believe me, we love you anyway!
