IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER

Just when I thought my cover couldn't get any better my publisher calls to tell me that my cover artist didn't feel the old title lettering did the cover justice. My incredible and talented cover artist, Melissa Williams, went above and beyond to make the cover of Tangled Tides even better than it was before. Wanna see?Isn't it magical and spectacular? The mermaid's tail texture has now been incorporated into the lettering. And see the tail coming off the "g"? Brilliant.

Here's the old version because I'm sure no one remembers what it looked like...
It wasn't bad, but compared to the awesome new version...
I love it so so much. Rhemalda Publishing has been so freakin' fantastic throughout this process. Today is one of those days (there are many) when I'm extremely grateful and happy that my first novel is being published by them. They really do treat me like family and go out of their way to make sure I'm in love with my book. (Not just pleased, but ecstatic and in love.)
I. Am. Grateful.

Which version do you like better?

Also, in case you haven't heard, Rhemalda is giving away several copies of Tangled Tides over on Goodreads. If you're interested you can enter here: http://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/14623-tangled-tides

  6. New font, FTW!! Love the new style. Quick q: Was Tangled Tides your original title, or did it change?

Thanks for sharing your cover's new look, and have a great weekend!

  7. Thanks, everyone! Glad you all like the new version too.

Tere, Tangled Tides is the new and improved title. I'm ashamed to admit it used to be called... *cringes* A Motley Mermaid.

SO glad we changed it. :)

  11. I always quite liked The Sea Monster Memoires, I guess it was just a working title, but Tangled Tides is a BRILLIANT title. The new lettering looks beautiful.

  15. Honestly, I like a combination of the two. The original version had more of a 3D look to it (which I enjoy), but the new font does look better. I'm just being uber-picky, you can't go wrong either way. It is a SHARP cover! :)

  24. I love the change actually! Although DL Hammons had a good point, as far as how the first has a nice clean, 3-D look. Giving it dimension. I like that one as well. The second, has a sharpness about it. A glamorous, sparkly shine, with the illusion of water. Yanno! How some oceans water will sparkle at night while the moonlight hits it? Or the way some portray the sea foam shining, or shimmering (as the title design suggests). It pops more too. And love the font change, to accommodate the tail fins to be added to the title. Very artistic indeed! And love the mystical and magical feel the title speaks to the viewer! An appealing eye candy, SURE to catch any potential buyers attention from the start!
Melissa, you've done wonderful work! Being an artist myself, I'd have done the same (not to say mine would be replicating your work by any means), in as how artists do take a step back from their work, and either see something is missing, or want to add, or take away something. Even spice things up a bit! You made a good call IMHO. Great work!
Karen, I cannot wait to read this series! When does the first book of this series come out? And congrats btw. I am very happy for you!
