BASE JUMPING ANYONE?

WITHOUT GOOGLING IT, (or reading any comments--they may be a spoiler) PLEASE answer my poll question:

Do you know what BASE Jumping is?

I'm writing my query and trying to figure out if I say one of my characters was BASE Jumping, will agents know what that means? Or will it cause a HUH moment?

Thank you in advance for your feedback!

  2. I voted, then I looked it up on Wikipedia. Holy Cow. You couldn't pay me enough to do that.

  3. I've heard of it, but I don't know exactly what it is. In context, surely an agent could figure it out?

  4. Yes, I'd watched videos of it but never done it myself! Have you???
I'm excited to hear you're putting out another query. Yay, you!

  7. Hey lady! I tried voting but it said I already did! Weird. But sorry to say I don't know what it is. Looking at your comments it sounds terrifying. I shall not be doing that anytime soon with my 8.5 month pregnant belly!

  8. Buildings, Antennae, Spans, Earth...

    What kind of agents?

We call some things, FBI clues, they are so obvious.

    Sorry Alistair, I had to.

  9. I learned what base jumping was from Along Came Polly. Ben Stiller movies do teach things. I don't care what anybody says.

  10. I don't even think I've heard of it. Still haven't looked it up on Wikipedia :P

  12. No idea-sounds like something you'd do in outer space--jumping from satellite to satellite?

  14. Hmm...I would assume they don't. I wrote my query letter referencing Capture the Flag and got feedback that people didn't know what it is. CAPTURE THE FLAG! I couldn't believe it.

  15. Hmm...I assumed that most people "in the know," such as book editors, were familiar with what base jumping was by now. It's right up there with bungee jumping as far as I know.

  16. I have to admit, I didn't know what the letters stood for, but I did have the basic concept down.
