Over the last two weeks I've received a few cupcakes. Okay, so it's really a blog award focusing on happiness, but I'm a sweetaholic so I focused on the cake and icing part of it.
Three wonderful bloggers gave me this award which means they either genuinely like my blog, OR they know about my passion for sweets. Either way, thank you very much to...
Hayley at The Writer's Hollow
Courtney aka Southern Princess
and
DL at Cruising Altitude
All three of these bloggers are definitely worth checking out and following if you aren't doing so already.
Now, my list of ten things that make me happy (in no particular order)...
1.) DESSERT- Duh. Isn't this why I received this award? Chocolate, brownies, ice cream, cake, pie, candies, whatever. Bring on the sugar rush.
2.) MY FAMILY- I mean it. My mom is truly my best friend. I will always be daddy's little girl. And the rest of my blood folk are wonderful too. Brother, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, they all get a big shout out with love.
3.) MY DOGS- I suppose technically they are included with my family. BUT they get their own mention because their tails wagging with happiness makes me happy.
4.) MY FRIENDS- Some of my friends I do consider family. Even the ones that live hundreds of miles away. They make my heart and soul happy.
5.) DISNEY WORLD- Or Disneyland. I'm not picky. I grew up all-things-Disney. You might think you understand what that means, but trust me, you have no idea. My parents were addicts, and they bred and raised two more addicts (my brother and I.) Luckily I live close and visit DW even more frequently than when I was a child.
6.) TRAVELING- Anywhere. Road trips, plane rides, cruises; just get me moving, taking in scenery, or learning or exploring a new place and I'm a happy gal.
7.) DANCING- Whether it was jumping around my room to Kid's Incorporated as a child, all the lessons I've taken over the years, or the studio in Clearwater where I learned from So You Think You Can Dance choreographers last year, I love to dance.
8.) RAVENS FOOTBALL- When they lose (like Sat night) I am not happy, but the rest of the time cheering my boys on and rocking my Ravens gear brings me a purple rain of joy.
9.) ADRENALINE RUSHES- Thrill rides at amusement parks, skydiving, swimming with wild dolphins and sea turtles in Hawaii, etc. I love that jolt of excitement that reminds me how amazing life can be.
10.) WRITING AND READING- To me, they go hand in hand. At one point in my life I wrote more than I read. Then I reversed it. Now, I know doing both every day gives me the best of one multifaceted world. The world of storytelling. A timeless, fantastic, limitless world that I am grateful and HAPPY to be tiny part of.
I'm going to borrow DL's idea and only pass this award onto one person. He mentioned when you start sending it to a bunch of people it tends to feel like chain mail and I agree. So, in a tag team effort to break the pass-along-to-ten-people rule, I choose, as my one and only recipient...
Melissa at Sugar Coat It
Her blog title alone makes her worth of this award. But, she is also from Australia. (For those of you who don't know, I'm a bit obsessed with Australians and British folk. I'd love to live in both places at some point in my life. If for no other reason than to listen to their wonderful accents all day every day.)
Melissa is also funny, refreshing, and really humble because she's shocked and genuinely grateful when she sees a new follower. She'd make a great character in one of my novels.
So, go check out Melissa. Then watch how cute she gets when she sees all the unexpected attention. :)

Write. Read. Imagine. Create. Learn. Love. Live. Repeat.
Disneyworld would definitely make my list. Congrats on the award!
ReplyDeleteI agree that the multiple passings on of the award feels like chain mail, but I think the theory is more similar to multilevel marketing: The more bloggers to whom you pass the award, the more sites your blog link appears on thereby increasing the potential you have for gaining more new followers. To me it's extra work, but it's a social networking strategy I guess. If you are out to increase your number of followers this can be another way to do it.

Amen to the adrenaline rushes! That's why my favorite genre of books is suspense! Thanks for sharing, Karen!
ReplyDeleteSwimming with dolphins! Should have known, Mermaid Gal. Someday, I would love to swim with the sea turtles. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou definitely deserve this award! Desert should always be #1. : )
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
You've learned from SYTYCD choreographers? That's amazing! It's been a while since I've been able to dance, but I'm still extremely jealous!
ReplyDeleteTricia, the sea turtles were AMAZING. They are more peaceful vs exciting, but still an amazing experience.
ReplyDeleteMariah, yes Sonya Tayeh is just as cool and fabulous in real life as she is on the show. So is Sabra (winner of season 3).
Thanks everyone. :)
Yummm...Glad to have found my here through DL. And your writing project looks interesting as well. Looking forward to more on that!

Thank You Karen! I am so grateful for the acknowledgement (and let's face it, the traffic!). I just don't know how I will narrow it down to just the one winner! But I will try.
ReplyDeleteAnd because you just looooove the accent.
G'day Mate! :o)
We're taking our boys (known around my blog as Thing 1 and Thing 2) to Disneyland for the first time this year. I think I'm more excited than they are!
ReplyDeleteYou learned from the SYTYCD choreographers? *turns green with envy*
ReplyDeleteI leave for a few days and you get all fancy over here! It looks awesome. I saw your title and immediately thought of other "cupcakes." :)
ReplyDeleteAnd your list minus # 7-9 are all my happy things too! Disneyland is my favorite place on earth (Disneyworld probably would be too, but it's so darn far away!)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award! I love that you broke the rules and passed it on to just one other blog. I may follow your lead on this, too. Especially because this one's really been passed around so much lately.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the lovely awards. I think I'm more of a sweet-tooth that I'd like to admit. #1 on your list made me drool. My neices are growing up all things Disney these days & I can't wait to take them to the Magical Kingdom one day soon. You are so lucky to live so close to DW! - G
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award!!! I love your new look on the blog!!
ReplyDeleteLOL!
ReplyDeleteLike Natalie I was thinking this was going to be a completely different type of post. Oh the irony of it!
Many moons ago I used to be pretty well associated with a bunch of dancers, mostly hip hop and such, because my ex-wife was a dancer and all her friends were dancers or choreographers. I got to see a lot of shows and learned that she and her friends were judges for various things. In fact, Brian Freedman (I think I spelled that right) was a dancer with my ex-wife and her best friend. And he's been doing guest judging on So You Think You Can Dance. Small world. Anyway, I wonder, who'd you learn choreography from in SYTYCD?

ReplyDeleteNatalie and Meg, shhhhhhh! The world isn't ready to know about our secret world of cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteVoidwalker, I took classes from Sonya Tayeh and Sabra Johnson (winner of season 3). Wade Robinson and Hawk also taught at my studio but sadly, I missed those guys.
Hey mate, another aussie here. Since you love us so much thought i'd leave an aussie sounding comment here. Just popped over from Sugar Coat it and I like what I see!! Great blog, I might just have to become a disciple!
ReplyDeleteHaha - I'm a new (Aussie) follower over from Suger Coat It too! You too have a lovely little mutual admiration society happening :o) Onya cobbers!
ReplyDeleteDoh! That should say "two", not "too". Oops!
